Are you getting enough Vitamin D?

Most of us only need around 10 minutes of sunshine a day to maintain adequate levels, but many of us may not be exposing our face, hands and arms during our winter hibernation or isolation!

During the worldwide COVID-19 response, several smaller studies have shown that those with lower levels of Vitamin D are more likely to test positive and have more severe symptoms. In Singapore, a group of seniors who had tested positive and immediately started supplementing with Vitamin D, Magnesium and B12 were less likely to require intensive care treatment.

Vitamin D doesn’t only play an important role in immunity, it also helps regulate Calcium, keeping our teeth and bones strong and healthy.

Whilst the richest sources of dietary Vitamin D are found in fatty fish, eggs and organ meat, mushrooms are a fabulous source too. All types of mushrooms. Bathe your mushrooms, gill side up, in sunlight for 15 minutes. Prep a nice recipe and have a mushroom feast!

Where a deficiency needs to be addressed, supplementation may be recommended. We have a variety of supplements available in store including capsules, drops, an oral spray or a vegan version.
